One of the most profound and beautifully written books about Germany during World War II. Narrated by Death, this book tells the story of courageous people who did what they could to fight against Hitler in the very country he controlled. Marvelous writing and inspiring characters, but a fair amount of German swearing. Also, some of the more painful themes might be better for an older teenage audience (14-18).
