All the Elephant and Piggie books are subtly hilarious. With just a few words on each page, they still manage to tell a story fun for children and adults.

Commander Toad in Space, by Jane Yolen
A great series of books for science fiction junkies and their kids. Commander Toad plays off of themes from Star Trek and Star Wars with many puns included. The kids enjoy the crazy stories and parent enjoy the silly references to science fiction classics.
